THE PERIDOT
THE PERIDOT
A wonderful gem belonging to the group of silicates, with an intense green color. Peridot (also called olivine) owes its color to a high percentage of iron, while chromium and nickel can accentuate its nuances. The largest mine in the world is located in the Apache reserve of San Carlos, Arizona. Marbodio of Rennes (French bishop and poet) wrote that the peridot represented an antidote against evil spirits, if pierced, threaded with a donkey's hair and finally hung on the left arm.
